Hand

The wrist connects the hand to the forearm and consists of eight small bones held together by ligaments, tendons, and muscles. It provides both support and flexibility, allowing powerful as well as precise movements.

Common Wrist Conditions

The wrist is prone to sprains, overuse injuries, and fractures, often caused by falls or repetitive motions. Many also experience tendon inflammation or irritation from prolonged use, such as typing, manual work, or sports.

Treatment

Physiotherapy helps reduce pain, restore mobility, and strengthen the muscles around the wrist. Treatment may include manual therapy, exercises, supportive bracing, and guidance on proper hand and forearm use.

For those with limited hand function, physiotherapy focuses on improving strength, flexibility, coordination, and restoring overall function.

Prevention

To prevent wrist pain, it’s important to strengthen the hand and forearm muscles, take breaks during repetitive work, and maintain good posture and ergonomics. Wrist supports can also help relieve strain when needed.

Wrist Exercises

Here you’ll find exercise programs designed to strengthen and stabilize the wrist. These programs are suitable for both clinical use and self-training and can easily be adapted to different levels and needs.
