Hip

The hip is one of the body’s largest and strongest joints, playing a key role in walking, lifting, and overall stability. Because it carries much of the body’s weight, it is prone to strain, inflammation, and wear over time.

Common Hip Conditions

Common issues include osteoarthritis, muscle tension, and inflammation of tendons or bursae. These may cause pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion.

Treatment

Physiotherapy and targeted exercise are effective treatments for most hip problems. Exercises that strengthen the muscles around the hip, improve mobility, and reduce pain can be tailored to individual needs.

For hip osteoarthritis, regular exercise can help slow disease progression and improve function. For muscle tension or inflammation, physiotherapy can relax tight muscles and ease pain.

Prevention

Regular physical activity, proper load management, and good movement technique help prevent hip problems. Strengthening the core and hip muscles and maintaining flexibility in the hips and pelvis reduce the risk of stiffness and discomfort.
